ISO7041: ATEX Certification

Part Number: ISO7041

I'm currently working on a project whose target market will require an IECEx and ATEX certification of the final product. The product is designed with intrinsic safety. Hence, using certified compononents is crucial. I was looking at the ISO7041F which looks very promising to fulfill all requirements. However, the datasheet only states that the mentioned certification is "planned". Is the process already underway? When can the completion of the certification process be expected? Thank you.

  • Mas,

We are currently under going certification for ATEX with this device. We are waiting for the official results to be released to us hopefully within a month. However, this ETA is not guaranteed. What power dissipation and temperature threshold does your project need? May I ask what particular kind of product you are working on?

    Respectfully,

    Lucas

  • Hi Lucas,

Thanks for the fast reply. That meets our schedule if the certification is ready in the above mentioned time horizon. Unfortunately, I can not tell you in more detail what particular kind of product it will be (at least not here in the forum). The device will operate in an environment with ambient temperatures lower than 80°C, the requirements for temperature class T4 shall be met.

Did you also make an analysis regarding failure rates (FIT or MTBF)? I could not find any respecting information in the datasheet.

    Best regards,
    Mas

  • Mas,

Do you mind if we move this conversation to email? We can proceed with a NDA for both parties. We are currently trying to broaden our understanding of what systems need ATEX. We can address your other questions via email as well.

    Respectfully,

    Lucas

  • Mas,

Here is the FIT data for the ISO7041. Please still let me know if we can start an email conversation.

    Respectfully,

    Lucas

  • Lucas,

Yes, it makes sense if we move this conversation to email.

    Thanks,

    Mas

  • All,

The ISO7041 has been formally certified for both ATEX and IECEx. More information about these safety certifications can be found in the datasheet. Certification documents can be found in the ISO7041 product folder under the Technical documentation tab

    Respectfully,

    Lucas Schulte
