SN6505B: unused CLK pin

Part Number: SN6505B

If the CLK pin is not used, how to deal with it? There is a pull-down resistor inside the device, what's the impedance value inside?

Do you also recommend to add an external resistor to connect CLK pin to GND for better noise immunity? if so, what's the suggested resistor value?

Regards

  • Hi Brian,

Thank you for posting to E2E! If the SN6505 CLK pin does not detect a valid oscillating CLK signal, it will automatically use its internal clock instead. No external pull up/down is required, but as you mentioned, an external 4.7kΩ to GND will increase noise immunity.

The internal pulldown resistor value is ~500kΩ.

    Thank you,
    Manuel Chavez
