LM7322-Q1

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM7322-Q1

Hello,

My customer is very interested in LM7322-Q1 datasheet specification.

Customer’s first question is process(Bipolar or CMOS).

I asked local TI office and answer is Bipolar.

Please answer following additional questions.

Q1: Bias Current

Bias Current is -2.5uA to 1.5uA and small in the bipolar.

Please tell me why bias current is small though it is bipolar.

Q2: Rail to Rail

LM7322-Q1 input and output Rail to Rail.

Please tell me how the input and output is the Rail to Rail.

Best Regards.

  • Hi,

Q1.  This is a normal spec for bipolar op amps.  If you check some CMOS op amps you will see that the input bias current is much smaller, in the pA range.

Q2.  I do not have access to the internal schematics, but this is just done by the design.  A standard way is to use two pairs of transistors, a PNP pair handling the input when it is close to the negative rail and a NPN pair handling the input when close to the positive rail.  Looking at Figures 13 - 21 in the datasheet show that they cross over at about 1V below the positive rail.
