Hello
I am looking for a space (Radiation Hardness) LDO that will be able to provide at least double the current of my board needs ( Iout > 2x350mA = 700mA)
and to regulate Vin of 5.5-5.6V into 5.2V.
I started with the TPS73601, but it goes only up to 400mA ( < 700mA) and it will not pass our electronic hardness tests.
Then I looked at the TPS7H1101-SP LDO.
However, at the WEBENCH application on your WEB page, it failed to find a solution at Vin_min=5.5V. Solution was displayed only for Vin_min=5.6V !
I didn't see in the datasheet a hint why the DropOut voltage should be 0.4V for these conditions.
1. Can you suggest an LDO that will provide my needs?
2. Why does the WEBENCH fails to simulate the TPS7H1101-SP LDO with 0.3V DropOut voltage?
Thanks
Amnon
Ammon,
1. One option you have is to parallel two TPS7H1101-SP LDOs thus This will allow the two LDOs to current share as well as be better for thermal management.
2. TPS7H1101-SP also has the feature that will allow you to set current limit at customer defined set point.
3. Regardiing WEBENCH simulation and dropout voltage will investigate and provide you input on it.
4. Alternate option is to use TPS7A4501-SP LDO that is space qualified PNP based LDO and rated for 1.5A.
