CD4052B-MIL: Can CD4052B-MIL be used for pro audio?

Part Number: CD4052B-MIL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD4052B

Hi TI,

I recently stumbled on the CD4052B-MIL (ACTIVE)CMOS Differential 4-Channel Analog Multiplexer/Demultiplexer with Logic-Level Conversion.

I'm not an engineer but I have some ideas to design some custom audio gear.

At first I was very excited but then saw in the PDF literature under “Applications” that this is recommended for “Consumer Audio”. Is there a reason why this recommended for consumer audio and not pro audio? What are the limitations for pro audio?  Also, is there a product comparable to this that would be compatible for pro audio?

Thank you for you feedback,

Erick

  • Erick,

Unfortunately, our group does not have audio experts.

From my limited research, pro-audio is not a defined standard and does not imply any specific specifications.   Consumer audio is similar, and only implying high volume product.

The CD4052B devices may or may not be suitable for your needs.  The AC performance tables is your best bet to translate your requirements into something that the device can accomplish for you.

TI does high end audio drivers.  These can be seen here:

Other audio products can be seen here.
