DRV8332-HT: Connect PVDD to 50V and GVDD&VDD not connected to 12V

Part Number: DRV8332-HT

Can I connect PVDD to 50V and leave GVDD and VDD not connected to 12V?

What will happen? Will this have some effects for the reliability of the chip?

  • Hi Jimmy,

PVDD is connected to high side of upper Mosfet and GVdd provides bias to the drive circuitary and VDD power for the internal logic. If you connect PVDD to 50V and GVDD and VDD not connected to 12V, it will not cause any damage to the IC. However the part will be non-functional as there is not bias to the logic or drive to the phase mosfets.
It should not have any effect to the reliability of the IC.
