BQ500211A i2c signals

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51013A

Hi

I am using bq series (now i ma using 211A but can change if somethig else better for my problem).

I have 2 questiesn:

1. how can I get the messages from the receiver from the i2c of the transmitter -  if not I2c does connecting gpio to the led is the only option?

2. can I send the messages that are now disabled in the receiver?

thanks in advanced.

  • Q1.) How can I get a messages from the receiver using the i2c of the transmitter -  if not I2c does connecting a gpio to the led an option?

A1.) The present bq500XXX IC do not support messages (proprietary packets) from the receiver, no option on I2C or LED.  The LED output can be used to monitor operating conditions as defined in the LED operating table, see data sheet.

Q2.) Can I send the messages that are now disabled in the receiver?

A2.) When you say disable message are you referring to Reserved Packets?  If yes the TI  TX solutions will ignored the message.

  • Hi

thank you very much for your answer.

    I have one more question:

regarding the recommendation to use 2 oz layer in the pcb of bq51013a why is it? to avoid heating or there is any other reason?

    thanks again,

  • Yes the 2 oz. copper thickness recommendation is for thermal.

Also the QFN version of the bq51013A is easier to cool.
