SN74AHC1G32: Date rate (MBps) vs Frequency (Hz)

Part Number: SN74AHC1G32
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AUC1G32, SN74LVC1G32

Hi,

I would like to know how to compare the maximum data rate with the maximum operating frequency.

My requirement is to operate an OR logic gate at a maximum frequency of 400MHz.

I doubt that the SN74AHC1G32 can operate at a data rate of 100MBps is suitable for a frequency of 400MHz.

How can I be sure ? If not, how can I find a component that meets my needs ?

Thanks for your help,

Louis

  • Hi Louis,

This FAQ gives some insight into how to estimate the maximum data rate for a logic gate. You are correct that the SN74AHC1G32 will likely not work at 400MHz, though max clock rates are usually conservative values. At 400Mhz you are unlikely to find anything in the logic portfolio that can guarantee to operate at such a high frequency. Prototyping the gate in your system is the best way to determine if it works.

For a similar operating voltage range as the AHC device you mentioned, SN74LVC1G32 will likely be the fastest option. At voltages under 2.7V SN74AUC1G32 will likely be the fastest option.
