SN74HC08A: Regarding change in ABSMAX(Tstg) and Switching CZ values

Hello TI engineers,

The datasheet information for SN74HC08A is slightly some different from what it was 25 years ago.
Our customer pointed out that there are two changes.
1. The minimum storage temperature : Changed from -65℃ to -60℃.
2. Switching characteristics: Changed some TYP values ​​and MAX values.

Please share the reason for these changes and any precautions for use. Thanks.

    Regarding the SN74HC08 without A, the minimum storage temperature was changed in revision F (January 2007); the typical propagation delay was changed earlier. The revision history does not go back so far, so I doubt that anybody knows if there was a corresponding change to the silicon.

    The maximum propagation delay was erroneously copied from the transition time; it is not possible for both of them to be equal.

    Please note that since PCN#20200629000.1, the SN74HC08(A) uses a new die with propagation delays that are more similar to those of the SN74HCS08, i.e., the typical datasheet values are no longer correct. (And I guess you now can store it at −65 °C.)

    Hi Junji,

    Please see [FAQ] What is the difference between the SN74HCxx and the SN74HCxxA?

    These datasheets are very old and we do not maintain them anymore. If possible we recommend either switching to the SN74HC08 if possible or at least referring to it's datasheet.
