SN74HCS86: Ivcc Through-current on slow signal simulated by Pspice for TI

We wanted to investigate the SN74HCS86; we chose the SN74HC86 for comparison.

The results were less than 1mA for all ICs, but the HCS86 had twice the VCC-pin throughput current of the HC86.
Is this a correct representation of the value in the actual device?

  • The SN74HC86 model is older than PCN#20200629000.1, so I do not expect it to model the typical characteristics of the new die correctly. I'd expect the new HC device to have shoot-through currents similar to that of the HCS. If you want to be sure, you have to actually measure a real device.

  • I thought the HCS family was superior to other CMOS in shoot-through current performance.
    I wanted to corroborate that with this simulation. But the results are the opposite of the promotional phrase on the datasheet. 

    HCS86 appears to perform worse... The HC86 seems better!
