TXS0108E: 10Mbps push-pull to 10Mbps OD interface

Hi team,

From the datasheet, the device can only support 2Mbps for OD interface. But for push-pull interface it can support 60Mbps. If my customer's system is master 10Mbps Push-pull interface(the device before TXS0108E), slave 10Mbps OD interface. Whether our device can support here? BTW: If the input is 10M OD, whether the device can support? Thanks.

The TXS uses edge accelerators on its outputs, and supports the higher speed. The PP/OD distinction matters only for inputs (where the external device must drive the signal).

For unidirectional signals, it would be a better idea to use a direction-controlled translator like the SN74AXC8T245.

Thanks for your quick response. Do you mean the device can support 10 or 20Mbps no matter the input is OD or PP.?

If the right side can only support OD interface, whether the device can support the structure i mentioned last post?(10MPP to 10MOD) Thanks.

Signals going into a TXS input must be PP for high speed.

Signals going out of a TXS output are always fast.

Hi Clemens,

if my customer also want to use the device bi-direction( for example, MDIO, MDC). The data rate is 10Mhz for both directions. The left is still Push-pull. The right side is OD. Whether the device TXS0108 can be used here?

From your previous reply. The solution seems to have some issues with OD 10mbps input. Thanks.

Frank,

As Clemens stated, it all matters what is driving the input of the device. If it is being driven by a push pull output, there is a data rate associated with that. If it is being driven by an open drain output then there is a data rate associated with that. Anything above those values listed in the datasheet are not guaranteed.

thanks . Do you mean if we use 10Mbps OD driven, the device isn't suitable here?(because for OD input, we can only support 2Mbps?)

Hey Frank,

Yes that is correct. The LSF0108 may be the best choice here as it can achieve higher data rates than the TXS device. This training video shows how to calculate the pull-up resistor sizes needed for desired data rates. 10 Mbps should be an achievable speed with this device.
