TMS570LC4357: nERROR and LTC behaviour during a nERROR reset request?

Part Number: TMS570LC4357

Hi QJ,

When discussing the nERROR behaviour we noticed that figure 16-8 in the Technical Reference describes a case, where the nERROR reset request is send before a failure has occurred and thus leading to nERROR beeing reset immediately after the LTC has expired.

This raises the question if the a reset of the LTC due to a new error beeing signaled, resets the EKEY in ESMEKR, while starting the LTC from 0 does not. The three differnet Cases displayed in the attached image show our understanding of the behaviour of the nERROR and the corresponding behaviour of EKEY in ESMEKR

(Q) Is our understanding of nERROR and EKEY (and the state machine) correct?

Thank you and best regards,
Max

  • Hi Max,

The relations among ESM failures, nERROR, EKY in your diagram are correct. But the explanation about LTC is not correct.

The LTC is reset to the preload value (for example 0xFFFF) when error occurs, then decrements every VCLK cycle until LTC=0. LTC will be reset to preload value when next error occurs. LTC has nothing to do with EKY reset request.
