LP-AM243: what is the mean about --operation=flash-phy-tuning-data?

Hi All,

I want to know the meaning about "--operation=flash-phy-tuning-data" as below figure, which you can find the file in the: C:\ti\mcu_plus_sdk_am243x_08_01_00_36\tools\boot\sbl_prebuilt\am243x-lp

Or can you point out where is the phy-tuning-data? Thanks!

One more thing, do we have detail info about the Boot about the chip of AM243x?

Hi Shaoxing,

in AM64x MCU+ SDK: Flash (ti.com), the OPSI tuning data was explained.

Important Usage Guidelines

Typically before writing to an offset, erase the block which corresponds to the offset
Flash writes can only be done to a page size aligned offset, otherwise the write API returns an error
The sbl_ospi will be typically flashed at location 0x00000000 in the flash memory. So applications using flash should refrain from using this offset. Similarly, the starting of the last block of the flash is used for storing attackVector patterns later used for PHY tuning. So avoid using this offset as well.

Hi Ming,

I notice that the difference between default_sbl_null.cfg and default_sbl_ospi.cfg. There is no "--operation=flash-phy-tuning-data" operation in the default_sbl_null.cfg file. And are PHY operating instructions unnecessary?

Because customers want to use their own serial port tools to burn programs, they don't want to use the Python platform.
Do you think that the OPSI tuning data is compulsory? thanks!

Hi Shaoxing,

My understanding is that for one line and low frequency, the tuning is not needed for OSPI, but for 8 lines and high frequency, it is required to do the tuning. Depending one their usage of the OSPI flash, they maybe able to skip the tuning.
