TMS570LC4357: TMS570LC4357 Eval board usage

Part Number: TMS570LC4357
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDX570LC43HDK, UNIFLASH, HALCOGEN

Dear all,

I'm novice to this Hercules MCUs. Just got my TMDX570LC43HDK. As specified in the quick start guide that comes along with the device, I'm facing some issues and have following queries:

  1. Does the eval board require two connections to make it work?
    1. A dedicated power supply
    2. USB cable?
  2. As specified in the quick start guide, since the MCU comes preprogrammed, after initial power up, it should display a blinking sequence on some of the LEDs. However, while I powered the board up, I did not see any such sequence. There is only one blue LED powered on while I plug the USB cable.
  3. Since the demo application was developed for Windows XP / Windows 7 based How to open Demo projects in CCS? I checked in TI folder where my other TI applications (including CCS, HALCoGen, uniflash etc) are installed, however, there is no Demo Application related folder. Where do I locate corresponding files?

Thanks.

  • Does the eval board require two connections to make it work?

Yes, the USB cable powers the XDS100V2 related circuits, and 5V or 12V from power jack P1 will power other circuits on the board.

After the power is plugged onto P1 connector, are LEDs (DS2/3/4) for 3.3V, 5V and 1.2V turned on?

The demo is installed in Hercules folder: C:\ti\Hercules\Hercules Safety MCU Demos\4.0.0

  • Hello Wang,

Thanks for the response. There was an issue with the power supply unit and hence the problem. The issue seems to be resolved now.
