Hi,

We have what equates to an XDS100 embedded in our PCB design. It seems the FTDI controller (for the XDS100) has been harder and harder to find... Is there any documentation available for the XDS110 (schematic/BOM, etc)?

We do not share it publicly, but in some cases you can just re-use what we have implemented on a LaunchPad(those schematics are public), and the binaries/programming files are included with CCS install.

Can you advise on the target device in your system? I can then better direct this to the right LaunchPad that would implement the XDS110 for your device.

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for your reply. We are using the TMDSCNCD28388D as our development platform which, of course, has some variant of the XDS100 on the board. In the future, I would like to be able to switch over to the XDS110 and embed it on our PCB.

Any advice that you can offer would be appreciated.

We should be able to help out here, I'm waiting on some information from some others in the team to give a full response.

Currently all the XDS110 we have implemented on the LaunchPads only pin out for 4pin/2pin cJTAG support(notably there is no TRSTn pin).

However, I believe we are working on adding this function back to the main header in an upcoming design, which is important for your device the F2838xD which needs full JTAG pin support(there is no cJTAG state machine implemented). The function does exist on those other LPs, but I need to get confirmation on which extra pin(s) need to be brought out to support the F2838xD device.

Please give me another day to get this info.

Take a look at this post for the location of the TRSTn(and EMU pins if you need) on the TM4C device that is acting as the XDS110.

You can start with a LAUNCHXL-F280049C for the schematic, adding the above to the TCK/TMS/TDO/TDI that are already in use.

You then want to follow the steps here XDS110 help page on flashing the bootloader and then manual update of the FW.

Let me know if you have questions. I think buying a launchpad and the trying the above out before adding to your design would be a good way to know the implementation will work.

I ordered a XDS110 from the TI web site last week. I will follow up with ordering a F280049C as you suggested.
