AM2432: OSPI Flash Reset Signal

Part Number: AM2432

Hi Team,

My customer has a question regarding TRM Section 4.4.1 ___.

It says 'When using a OSPI\xSPI\QSPI\SPI flash device greater than 128Mb, a flash device package with a RESET signal must be used.'

If their flash device is exactly 128Mb, do they have to follow this? My understanding is that they don't have to, but please correct me if my understanding is incorrect.

Also, would they have to connect the pins: OSPI0_RESET_OUT0, OSPI_RESET_OUT1 in their situation?

Best regards,

Mari Tsunoda

  • Hi Mari,

You are correct, since the memory size is 128M-bit then the device does not have to enable 4-byte addressing and can access all memory spaces using 3-byte addressing.

In this case, the hardware reset signals OSPI0_RESET_OUT[1:0] are optional and they can continue their application without them as most flash memories support software reset commands.

    Best,

    Daniel
