EK-TM4C123GXL: Ubuntu 20.04.4 Tiva load and debug

I am trying to run CCS version 12 with the EK board. It seems I am missing something. I have looked over the forum and most items seem to be more Windows centric. Which I find interesting because one of the messages I get while trying to debug just the 'main.c' that is created as a project give me and error saying "Can't Initialize Target CPU: Failed to open COM14 at 9600 baud:open: Nosuch file or folder.

COM14 is a Windows port, not a Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS device.

At any rate, I would have thought there would have been (and there may be) a set of instructions for installing, adding support (found some older items on adding drivers, but the menus have changed), and configuring the debug interface to the EK board. If anyone can point me to the information, I would appreciate it.

I'm not sure where this is coming from. Can your provide a screenshot of the CCS IDE when this error occurs?

The UART connection was selected in the 'connection', it is the default ccxml file evidently.

I did change it in the project to the Stellaris In-circuit interface and it loaded the project but when I load the project it disconnects immediately, with "(Disconnected: Unknown)".

I tried making a new project, using the Stellaris In-Circuit interface and it will not load "Error connecting to the target: Unable to communicate with device...". There are no other projects open.

I have cycled power on the EK board. Restarted CCS. Still same messages.

If I go back to the other project it still loads, but immediately disconnects so I cannot debug.

I am going to dig into it and see if I can find any differences. Try some variations in project creation.

Also, tried importing project 'blinky', works on Windows, fails on Linux. But, my original program still loads but still disconnects.

This connection is not used for standard CCS debugging.

Yes this is the correct debug connection for that launchpad

Can you try a "manual" launch and see if you can manually connect to the target successfully?

If I am following you correctly (new to this CCS ARM), I should double click on the ccxml file, then the debug Icon. I get identical results.

Did you run the install_drivers.sh script with sudo after installing CCS?

Evidently not, thought I had. I installed, but I guess Ubuntu 20.04.4 requires a restart. Apologies...
