AM2634: Error connecting to the target: (Error -1170 @ 0x0)

Hi expert,

I am trying to connect to specific cores and run the project via CCS IDE.

Here, whenever core 0 & core 2 are attempted to connect - the target is connected.

But if an attempt to connect with core 1 & core 3 is made, it ends up popping up the below error.

Surprisingly, I was able to get connected with all 4 cores the same until last week and this issue is popped up only for the past two days.

I am unable to identify the actual root cause of this issue and the corrective action to get it resolved.

Any leads would be really helpful.

Can you please let me know if you have created a New Target Configuration and tried to launch it, connect the cores from it?

Hi Kowshik,

Yes - I did try to create a New Target Configuration to check whether it had any scope for the multi-core debugging option.
Since it didn't seem to be helpful, I deleted the newly created target configuration.

Is the issue due to the creation of a new target configuration file?
If so, how do I get rid of this trap?

I don't have a AM2634 to investigate but wondering the R5SS0 and R5SS1 have been changed from dual-core to lock-step mode for some reason.

Can you try the following, to confirm if operating in dual-core (what you need to connect to all 4 cores) or lock-step mode:

When connected to core 0 use the CCS Registers View to inspect the value of the LOCK_STEP field in the MSS_CTRL_R5SS0_STATUS_REG register. Using Find (Ctrl-F) in the registers view you should be able to search for MSS_CTRL_R5SS0_STATUS_REG by name.
When connected to core 2 use the CCS Registers View to inspect the value of the LOCK_STEP field in the MSS_CTRL_R5SS1_STATUS_REG register.

Yes, when you create a new target configuration, the GEL script that is assigned is taken from the CCS base folder and there's a bug in the default AM263x-gel file where it doesn't make the SoC to be in dual core mode by default. I have addressed the way to connect to all the cores in your other query here, please try it and let me know if that method works
