Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN
All,
using the HET engine to run a timer...appears to be working ok....
we have 30 custom pcbs , all using the Herc, all the same hw, oscillator, etc...pcb;s eactly same...etc...
Question:
ramifications if the VCLK2 is run higher than its maximum?
reason I ask:
attached is a screen cap of the halcogen setup...the SW guy has the VCLK set for 150MHz, which exceeds the max for the TMS5704357 (per datasheet VCLK2 MAX = 110MHz)
also the HET2 global setup in halcogen.
what we have seen:
the code generates 200, 5mS slots...we feed a 1Pulse per second into each Herc board....the edge is polled, and the HET does its thing...(pretty sure the 1PPS edge is POLLED)
the code logs the counts. (spits out some statistic every so often on counts/errors of counts on the serial port of the HERC)
some boards count to 200 all the time...some count to 199, 201...
I am chasing all things related to this (i.e. actual crystal osc outside), etc.....
also attached is the actual crystal oscilaltor circuit...
but....need to know , as asked, ramifications of running this VCLK past the MAX the Herc's spec....(not sure if Halcogen just captures what is entered into it but it is "internally limited" even though you have a value that exceeds the MAX,,?
as usual...I sincerely appreciate any thoughts/advice...
