AM2634: Need to change a GPIO pin output status from every core

Dear all,

I'm wondering if it is possible to manage the same GPIO pin output from every cores. For example I set the GPIO pin output status to 1 from Core0 and I'd like to reset that pin from Core 2. How can I achieve this result?

Hello Gianni,

For starters, each processor core has it's own dedicated module for controlling GPIO.

When it comes to GPIO Inputs or 'GPI', all GPI pins are able to observed by all processor cores at a given time.

However when it comes to GPIO Output or 'GPO', there is an IOMUX CTRLMMR register-based mux that is used to assign the control of a specific GPO pin to a specific processor core.

For your use case, you are looking to change the GPO behavior of the same pin from two different cores. In order to do this then, you would need to reconfigure the IOMUX CTRLMMR in order to re-assign which core is controlling that specific GPO. Effectively this means you would need to reconfigure the GPO each time.

I can't fully comment on if that would then meet the criteria of your 'reset the pin' requirement. Knowing the process now, you can test the behavior when reconfiguring the pins for each core to determine if the resulting behavior aligns with your needs.
