AM2432: AM2432 lockstep

From the Query: "Does each single core cluster of Arm cortex-R5F can work with 800MHz

TI's reply:  As stated in device data manual, each core can be used independently (as a single core) or in lockstep mode. This is SW configurable."

My question is: Does AM2432/AM2434 support lockstep mode?

I have gone through AM243x's datasheet but haven't noticed anything about the lockstep feature. Would you please let me know where could I find the information about the lockstep feature in AM243x ?

    From all the documentation I've reviewed and experts I've asked, the device does not support lockstep mode and that statement wasn't accurate when it was made. I can put a query out to our engineering team to confirm this. But even if they come back differently to state that it is possible to use the device in lockstep mode, we have no resources to offer to support using it in that mode. If that note about lack of resources is sufficient enough for you, just let me know.

  • In this case, is there any alternative to AM2432? That you can suggest? Any other chip that supports the lockstep mode?

    I would recommend you look into our Hercules MCU portfolio, those are functional safety focused MCUs that largely support lockstep. Many are R5 cores as well.
