LP-AM243: Failed to connect to AM2434_ALX

Hi there!

I wanted to start with my LP-AM243 and have problems with connecting.

According to the "Quick Start" i have to configure the serial port and get this error.

Failed to configure debug server. Failed to connect to AM2434_ALX device: Please unplug your hardware, then plug it back in and try again

I installed the browser plug-in and the ticloudagent (ticloudagent_2.exe) and the the switches are set as they should (only 2 and 6 ON).

What I already tried:

- unplug an plub back in

- uninstall the reinstall ticloudagent

- tried serial port UART and other (AUX)

- tried with browsers firefox and chrome 

- plug in power (usb-c) before

- restarted PC

- tried on a different PC of a co-worker

Have you got any ideas what this could be or any suggestions how to fix this problem?

    Hello Thierry,

    That the UART port does not seem to configure right makes me wonder about the exact hardware configuration here.

    For starters, please check this post and review your power supply, especially if you are using a laptop as your USB-C power supply: https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/arm-based-microcontrollers-group/arm-based-microcontrollers/f/arm-based-microcontrollers-forum/1183354/faq-sitara-mcu-evm-and-launchpad-power-supply-requirements

    Beyond that, can you provide a high quality image of your LaunchPad with your current connections made? Especially of interest will be a sticker on the LaunchPad that indicates the revision. We have multiple revisions of this board currently and knowing which one would be helpful.

    Lastly when everything is plugged in, can you see what shows up in Device Manager as far as Ports that are seen and connected. I want to see if the XDS110 UART is seen in Device Manager or not.

    Power Supply:
    According to the Quick Start guide, the power supply does not need to be connected at this stage. It will be connected in the next step. However, I will take a look at it.

    My LP:
    At the moment, I haven't made any connections yet, except for J20 (Micro USB) as per the Quick Start guide, and I have also set SW4 according to the Quick Start guide.My LP-AM243

    If the Quick Start guide is the insert you have in the LaunchPad box it may be out of date. There was an issue with earlier versions of this power that required USB-C power to be applied before the microUSB is connected. While I think this version has that resolved I haven't gotten confirmation yet, so for now please follow that sequence. But furthermore, you need to have the USB-C power attached with a proper adapter to be able to use the LaunchPad. Without USB-C and the enough power, the board will not function and you won't be able to connect to CCS with it.

    Also I will need to forewarn that the version you have also will likely find a second issue with the Out of Box experience that we are actively working to resolve. But the UART issue you displayed first is separate from that one, so before we even delve into the other half of this, we need to get the UART connection error cleared. Once we do so, I'll loop in a colleague who is more up to speed on the remainder.
