I don't fully understand the question at hand. "Loopback" (I presume this is what you meant by 'lookback') mode is typically used for serial communication interfaces like UART, I2C, CAN etc. Not just as a standard GIO.

Yes, you are right, it is Loopback, for my understanding, GIO loopback is also a diagnostic mechanism for general Output pin, am I correct ? But what is the safety mechanism for GIO input pin ?
