TMS570LC4357-EP: TMS570LC4357-EP

Part Number: TMS570LC4357-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LC4357,

Hello Support Team

We use this microcontroller in aerospace and defense industry, and we have to relate with AMC20-152A.

In AMC20-152A ask this 2 questions;

1) The microcontroller has included microcode?

2) If its included, is it qualified?

Best Regards

Hardware Engineer/ Master Defence

  • Hi Kenan,

    1) The microcontroller has included microcode?

    2) If its included, is it qualified?

It doesn't include microcode, instead of it's have an empty flash and we have to program the device based on our application requirements.

Once we program the flash with our application then the code execution will be done from the flash address 0x00000000.

Hercules TMS570LC4357 is certified by TÜV SÜD to be capable of achieving IEC 61508 SIL 3 helping to make it easier to develop functional safety applications.

  • Hi Mr. Gundavarapu,

Thanks for information, it's very useful for me.

According to EASA CM-SWCEH-001, if a COTS microcontroller includes a bus controller, it is considered a complex COTS device. Therefore, I would like to confirm if the TMS570LC4357-EP microcontroller includes a bus controller to determine its complexity.

  • Hi Kenan,

As per my knowledge, bus controller is a hardware component which manages the flow of data and signals between the different modules with in the controller.

If i am right then, in our controller there won't be any specific component as a bus controller. The processor(Cortex-R5F) itself manages the flow of data between different peripherals and/or memory.

And sometimes DMA can also be used as a master to transmit data or signals between different peripherals or memory without processor intervention.
