AM2634: Trace Port configuration

Part Number: AM2634
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG, , TMDSCNCD263

Hi,

I didn't found any option in the sysconfig for configuration of the Trace port.

can you please suggest how to do it while using sysconfig with sdk.

  • Hello Bikash,

I am also not seeing an option to configure the pins to be the trace muxmode as a part of the SDK drivers. I will reassign this thread to an SDK expert so that they can suggest the optimal way to set the Trace port using the SDK.

In the meantime, these signals can be set by configuring the associated balls for each signal to mux mode 4. This is done by configuring the IOMUX register's FUNC_SEL bits (<default signal>_CFG_REG[0-3]) to 4. For example to set D15 to TRC_CLK then write 0x4 to PR0_PRU1_GPO19_CFG_REG[0-3].

    Regards,

    Erik

  • Thank You Eric for the info. As I understood at the moment I need to adapt the pinmux.c manually in order to configure the trace port as the option is not available in the sysconfig, please correct me if i am wrong.

Another question related to the Trace peripheral , In case I want to make use of just 8 tracepins for offchip tracing instead of all 16 pins, do I need to do something in the software apart from the pinmux configuration. or the respective trace data will be automatically routed to the configured trace pins by the Replicator in my case to the pinsTraceData[0] to [7]

  • Hi Bikash,

As Erik has mentioned Trace port configuration is not supported in SDK out of box as of now. From the data routing point of view configuring the pinmux should be sufficient from SW side. Please make sure HW point of view line ar4e routed if you are using custom HW.

  • Hi Ankur,

    I appreciate your response.

Is it possible to use the AM2634 EVM (TMDSCNCD263) for off-chip tracing with the Lauterbach debugger?

Is this EVM module ever utilised for this function? Does this require the attachment of a separate connector?

We are aware that trace signals may become distorted during transfer from one PCB to another, so any advice in this area would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello Bikash,

A local account representative will send out additional details to you in an email.
