AM2434: SBL EMMC : [ERROR] Flashing failed !!!

Dear TI experts,

I am going through the AM243x MCU+ SDK 09.01.00, in Example and Demos ->Secondary Bootloader (SBL)->SBL EMMC, I cannot complete "SBL EMMC".

I am using AM243x MCU+ SDK 09.01.00 and Openssl 1.1.1 .

1. The following picture is the error when I run the Python command. I don't know why this error exists.

2. I found that the SBL EMMC uses the AM64x board, and the following is the debugging information from the official website.

3. My doubt is whether sbl_emmc can run successfully on the AM243x-EVM.

4. How can I solve this problem?

Hi Weijian Tang,

AM243x SDK is not tested with eMMC. We have only tested it for AM64x which is a paper spin part of AM243x. Extending the support is something which is technically feasible but we don't have any plan to deliver the same.

Let us know your priority of this feature, so we can think through this.

I am very glad to receive your reply.

My project urgently needs EMMC RTOS boot in AM243x, because I have given up other bootloaders.

I hope you can test SBL EMMC in AM243X-EVM as soon as possible, which will be of great help to me.

My board is non hsfs board(AM2434-EVM: TMDS243GPEVM).

I have no way to verify whether it is correct, because my board does not have QSPI. Could you verify it?

Why is the QSPI a dependency for you ? I am not able to understand the problem.

Have you tested SBL_EMMC on AM2434-EVM recently?

Hi Aakash,

I am testing sbl_emmc with Customer Tang. We connects to am243x and load sbl_emmc symbol to see the status of the device. It turns out that the sbl is stuck at main line 75.

In main.c, it is a Bootloader_profileAddProfilePoint() function call on line 75. Looks like this function is trying to send some text through sci and get stuck at transmission.

Any idea what's the cause of this?

Can you try resetting the am243x, do a cpu reset and run it again?

We've tried resetting the am243x, it stuck at the exact same spot.

A few days ago, I received an updated AM2434-EVM, so this issue has been resolved.

I found that the issue was caused by the chip version.
