Hi,

I'm new with TI development.

I've buyed a LAUNCHXL2-TMS57012 Lunchpad.

The question is what is the recomended way to develop a new project with this device.

I very familier with Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code.

1. Is it possible to use one of them to develop on this launchpad.

2. Are there some drawbacks to use VS or VS-Code compare to Code Composer Studio.

In past few customers tried using visual studio for their projects on there own.

But the best way is to use CCS IDE (Code Composer Studio), because all the available examples and video tutorials are available only CCS.

Hi Jagadish,

Thank you for the quick response.

I have installed CCS.

CSS has 2 compiler TI v20.2.7.LTS and TI Clang v3.2.1.LTS
It seems like TI Clang v3.2.1.LTS is the future.

So I have choosen TI Clang v3.2.1.LTS Compiler vor a project and i get a lot of errors even in an empty project.

After setting of following processor options:

-mcpu = cortex-rc4

-mfpu = vfpv-d16

All errors are disappered but I still have some warnings and debugging is not possible.
I think this warning will make a big problem:
_little_endian__ is a legacy TI macro that is not defined in clang compilers and will evaluate to 0, use '!defined(__ARM_BIG_ENDIAN)' instead [-Wti-macros]

here is the compiler call:
"C:/ti/ccs1260/ccs/tools/compiler/ti-cgt-armllvm_3.2.1.LTS/bin/tiarmclang.exe" -c -mcpu=cortex-r4 -mfpu=vfpv3-d16 -mbig-endian -Og -I"D:/_Test" -I"D:/_Test/include" -I"C:/ti/ccs1260/ccs/tools/compiler/ti-cgt-armllvm_3.2.1.LTS/include" -g -MMD -MP -MF"source/sys_dma.d_raw" -MT"source/sys_dma.o" -o"source/sys_dma.o" "../source/sys_dma.c"

What are the right parameters/configuration for this compiler?

The HALCoGen generated code, SDL (safety diagnostic library, CSP test cases) are not fully supported by TI-Clang.

If you use TI-Clang, you need to update CSP test cases, HalCOGen generated code etc manually.

This is the reason we always recommend customer to use TI ARMCL compiler for Hercules controllers.
