AM2632: MCAN Clock Source SysConfig Support Plans

Part Number: AM2632
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Hi Team,

Continuing the question regarding MCAN from the related thread, do we have any plans of supporting MCAN clock souce config in sysconfig?

Also, an additional question regarding MCAN example code located in /SDK/examples/drivers/mcan/mcan_external_read_write

When they built the example, SOC_RcmPeripheralClockSource_DPLL_CORE_HSDIV0_CLKOUT0 was generated inside ti_power_clock_config.c.

My understanding is that this is the CAN clock source. Where can they change this?

Best regards,

Mari Tsunoda

  • Hi there,
For CAN FD, the supported CAN clock frequencies are 20Mhz, 40Mhz and 80Mhz. In the SDK, the IP is configured to operate in 80Mhz by default.

These are the possible clock sources for MCAN according to the TRM Table 13-267:

The source DPLL_CORE_HSDIV0_CLKOUT0 is selected as it is the only clock perfectly divisible by 80Mhz.

I'd be able to understand the issue better if you could clarify why do they want to change the clock source.

    Best,
    Aswathi
