Many people are confused by the difference between a "Crystal" and a "Crystal Oscillator".
There was an illustrated post here explaining the difference (I think I wrote it):
https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/stellaris_arm/f/471/p/135114/555988#555988
but that link no longer works.
Is there any way to retrieve that post?
(I've tried the Wayback machine - no luck).
I've also tried searching here, but the terms are too common.

When I click the above link, it shows the below thread. I don't think this link which you provided above has anything to do with crystal vs crystal oscillator.

The only thing I can find is this one.
Thank for for contributing to TI e2e community. You can find all of your posting by clicking "All of Andy Neil's posts".

Yes, I know - but that's entirely the wrong thread. That's the problem!
Somehow, the forum is redirecting the old link incorrectly to that thread.
Look at the old URL: microcontrollers/stellaris_arm/f/471/p/135114/555988#555988
There doesn't seem to be any "Stellaris ARM" section in the forum any more - is there an archive of that available somewhere?
The only thing I can find is this one
No, that's not it.
That thread actually refers to the same link in it - which, again, goes incorrectly to the one in interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum.
The fact that we now have two separate instances of that link I think confirms that it's not just a typo: it was the correct link at the time, but some forum reorganisation/restructuring/pruning has broken it.
The question is: where has the original content gone?
Hi,
I think you are looking for this one, right?
Look at the old URL: microcontrollers/stellaris_arm/f/471/p/135114/555988#555988
In the search field, type thread:135114 and it will find the original post.
That link gives me 'Page not found':
n the search field, type thread:135114 and it will find the original post
doesn't work for me:
There is some e2e archive issue. The link I gave is only visible to internal TIers.
I copy the entire thread into a docx file.
Thanks.
I though it was more detailed than that, but maybe that's just my memory after >12 years!

Is that a "fault" that's likely to be fixed, or is that intended behaviour now?
It is a fault. I can file a ticket but I doubt it will be fixed overnight, most likely not until the next maintenance release.
The doc I sent is the complete thread.
