Can EtherCAT slave work in giga mode ?
If yes, the AM243x LP has a giga phy dp83869, how can we verify it on the board?

Hi Tony,
Currently, EtherCAT does not support Giga mode. Only regular EtherCAT 100M protocol is supported.

Aaron
Aaron,
Do you mean currently TI doesn't support EtherCAT-G? or the EtherCAT doesn't support EtherCAT-G?
What is needed to support EtherCAT-G except the Giga Ethernet interface?
Tony,
Sorry for the confusion. Currently TI doesn't support EtherCAT-G. EtherCAT protocol does support EtherCAT-G.
In order to support EtherCAT-G on TI devices, PRU-ICSS firmware update and software changes is critical along with Giga Ethernet interface.
Regards,
Aaron
Hi Aaron,
So you mean AM2434 can support EtherCAT-G by update PRU-ICSS firmware? Do you have a plan to modify such a demo?
EtherCAT G specs are not available yet from ETG. Once its ready, will look into the plan.
Hi PratheeshGangadhar,
But I found a topic that said AM6442 can support EtherCAT Giga bits in hardware and only need to update software firmware. Could you check and confirm it?
e2e.ti.com/.../am6442-when-will-ethercat-g-gigabit-be-supported-on-sitara-processors
only need to update software firmware.
Yes, hardware is capable, won't undermine the effort to do the firmware especially when specs are not frozen.
Liu: Pratheesh is correct. Beckhoff through/with the ETG must release EtherCAT G spec before silicon (or device drivers) are produced by TI to formally support the spec.
More than likely you will need to go to a 3rd party to access EtherCAT G Master IP; whereas silicon suppliers will rely on a Beckhoff produced shared library object for EtherCAT G Slave IP implementations.
