AM2634: Application Notes or Support Library Details for Zephyr RTOS

Part Number: AM2634

Tool/software:

Hi

This question is related to Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) support for Texas Instruments (TI) devices. Specifically, I have two questions:

1. C2000 Device Support: Do C2000 devices support RTOS options like FreeRTOS?

2. Zephyr RTOS Support: Is there any recent update on TI officially supporting Zephyr RTOS for its devices?

While reviewing the MSPM0 Software Development Kit (SDK) documentation, I came across the statement: "RTOS support: Develop using Zephyr OS support for MSPM0 and starter projects for the FreeRTOS kernel." This sparked my curiosity regarding the broader RTOS landscape for TI devices.

I would appreciate any clarification you can provide on these points. Additionally, any comments on the information found in the MSPM0 SDK regarding Zephyr and FreeRTOS support would be helpful.

Regards

Bivin

  • Hi Bivin,

I was in business travel and did not check e2e.

The minimum amount of RAM required to run FreeRTOS libraries on a microcontroller is 64 KB. You can use freeRTOS on a C2000 device if it has more than 64KB internal RAM.

But the C2x SDK doesn't include freeRTOS examples. I don't know Zephyr RTOS.

  • Hi

Can you loop an expert to comment on the Zephyr OS support and an expected development timelines for the same.

    Regards

    Bivin

  • Hi Bivin,

We do not support Zephyr on AM26x MCU.
