What is the current situation regarding the support of sensorless motors with AM243x?

I need to control a FOC motor only by speed, without any encoders. For better integration and communication, I want to use FreeRTOS.

Are there examples for speed controllers and PWM frequencies above 80 kHz?

We do not have a plan to provide an example for sensor-less motors on AM243x right now. You can refer to "TIDM-02018 Universal Motor Control Reference Design for AM263x Arm® Based MCU Devices" reference design, which is only supported for AM263x device, and not on AM243x device.

The default switching frequency is 15KHz in this case, but user can easily adjust it to 80 KHz in the "user_mtr1.h" file.

We selected this frequency based on the current ripple threshold. If the motor inductance is low, higher switching frequencies will be preferred. Typically, 15-20KHz works well for most applications.

Regarding the FOC loop execution time, 12.5 us should be sufficient. The exact number of cycles can vary depending on the observer and sin/cos library used.

Also, ePWM should be able to handle the 80KHz frequency.

Thank you. Which CPU for working with motors works with RTOS? I have experience with s2000, you don't have a version for them.

With Sitara devices, we are using ARM R5F for processing.

I bought LP-AM263x. And I'm waiting for him to arrive. Opened your project "universal_motorcontrol_lab". Does this project work without RTOS?

This project does not use FreeRTOS, it uses NO-RTOS. More details on NO-RTOS are available here: AM263x MCU+ SDK: NO RTOS (ti.com).
