TM4C1290NCPDT: Updating CCS 10 to newer version

Part Number: TM4C1290NCPDT

Tool/software:

I'm running CCS 10.4.0.00006.  Whenever I've done a "Check for Updates" it states that there are no updates available, but this time I saw an error message that the update repositories could not be found.  Looking, I see that CCS has advanced to version 12.

1) Should I update?   2) Can I keep v10 also, i.e., not Update but do a new Install?  Would I be able to use my v10 workspaces after running v12 or should I create new ones and import the projects?

I'm using both TMS430 and TM4C MPUs'

Thanks, Doug

  • Hi Doug,

Yes, the latest CCS version is 12. When you install CCS12, it will be installed to a separate directory. In another word, it will not overwrite your existing CCS10 directory. See below that I have kept both CCS10 and CCS12. I even keep CCS8.

The first time you use CCS12 to open a CCS10 workspace, it will prompt you something about moving forward, the workspace can only be opened by CCS12. You cannot use CCS10 to open projects in the workspace that has already been opened by CCS12. Of course, you can create a new workspace and use CCS12 to import projects from your CCS10 workspace.
