Hello, i am designing my own costume board based on TMS570LC4357-EP. Based on what was suggested at a previous post TMDX570LC43HDK: Component replacement - Arm-based microcontrollers forum - Arm-based microcontrollers - TI E2E support forums i am planning to remove the CPLD and place a JTAG connector for external debugging. I have followed the schematics provided by TI TMDX570LC43HDK Development kit | TI.com (SPNR043A.ZIP) which conveniently has both a CPLD and a JTAG connector as shown in the pictures below. I have noticed that the CPLD is connected to various components such as a FT2232HL. What should i do with the various connections when i remove the CPLD. Thank you in advance

Hi,

If you want to remove the CPLD then you can also remove the FT2232 IC and its associated connections as well.

You can simply use only 20pin JTAG connector to flash the controller.

If you want you can also have a look on below schematic, regarding 20-pin JTAG connection.

Here also customer didn't use the CPLD and FT2232HL, instead of he connected only a 20-pin JTAG for code flashing.
