Tool/software:
Hi Team,
We are planning to use AM2434BSFFHIALXR with Ethernet IP Field bus protocol along with SDK latest version(ind_comms_sdk_am243x_09_02_00_15).
We are interested to find out the Ethernet IP data transfer latency as we are trying to use Line Topology as it would be a optimized way of cabling for our application..
Our PLC scanning time is <= 1ms. Which connection Topology would you suggest (Line , Ring , Star ) ?
I am planning to use 4/5 nodes (Eval boards as a node) to measure the data transfer Latency and extrapolate it for 100 nodes in line Topology . Is this something that we can extrapolate ?
Do you have any other methods/ application note or calculator to complete the EtherNet IP Latency for Line Topology ?
We know the following Latencies i.e Store & Forward Latency , Wireline Latency ,Queuing Latency, EIP Switch Latency. But what is cut-through Latency ?
Appreciate your help at the earliest !
Regards,
Rajesh
Hi Rajesh,
sorry for the delayed response, the cut-through latency for each board is around the same range (~4 μs ). You can also see it in the EtherNet/IP Adapter datasheet:
EtherNet/IP Adapter: Datasheet
Here you can see also a similar thread which might give you better insight:
