TMDSCNCD263: Cannot program TMDSCNCD263 Control Card

Part Number: TMDSCNCD263

Tool/software:

Hi,

I'm wanting to use TMDSCNCD263 Control Card to run TIDA_01606 10kW Bi-Directional Inverter using the software provided in the Reference Design but the Control Card will not program.

Help please.

Regards,

Michael.

  • Hi Michael,

Can you please provide more detail on where in the programming sequence you are having issues?

    Regards,

    Brennan

  • Hi Brennan,

My software engineer is dealing with it so I've asked him for a description of the problems and will send that to you asap.

    Regards,

    Michael.

  • Hi,

Below is part of a recent email regarding programming issues - full description to follow later:-

"I still haven't managed to get a successful build and get it loaded onto the target especially using Theia. I've read that Theia will be overtaking CCS in time but not all products are supported yet, although they do have a timeframe for end of this year.
When I plug in the AM263 target it doesn't get recognised by Theia (see photo), i also tried several ways which involved manually telling Theia to use AM263 but kept leading to some errors. I've tried including reloading new FDTI drivers which forced me to do a complete windows update, and disabling the antivirus firewall! I've made sure I'm using the correct USB-C supply, and all the target LEDs are on showing that its correct. The comms USB is the standard connection to laptop USB, and is indicated in the Device Driver as
    - XDS110 class data port
    - XDS110 class debug probe
so its not the hardware. However this didn't solve it.
Even the latest version of TI 10kW guide www.ti.com/.../sprad99 app note is using CCS V12.
So i installed CCS V12. It also doesn't see the target. I've noticed in the app note there are hardware changes to be made to the target but these are not related to connection issues (just relay drivers)."

    Regards,

    Michael.

  • ok thanks.

Please see below description from my software engineer:-

On windows 11 machine, win64, pentium silver
    CCS Theia 1.0.0.00021 win64
    CCS 12.8.1.00005 win64

on windows 10 home machine, win64, i3 core
    CCS12.8.1.00005_win64

All these builds seem to install OK using the off-line installer zip files.  This was all done with firewall and antivirus disabled (antivirus is MS Defender).  The internet connection is fine.  While leaving disabled, the AM263x control card and Docking station were connected up. On both PCs, USB-C 65W adapter for the control card and standard USB for the debug port plugged in, all green LEDs are on. Theia auto-recognised the hardware, and at one point CCS12 could use the virtual COM port.

With firewall and antivirus disabled , in all above cases, trying to get the simplest Blink project example to install and build for this hardware.  But consistently fails at the point of fetching the example code and SDK from the cloud.  It seems to be at the point where it maybe did fetch a zip file but then couldn’t access it locally.  I was using this location for the projects:

    C:\ti\workspace_v12

The local permissions in the c:\ti folder were then changed for full access to all users and tried again, but keep getting the same error at the same point.  For CCS12 :

Error Installing MCU+ SDK for AM263x version 10.00.00.35 – Failure

although worded slightly different in Theia.

    Regards,

    Michael.

  • One possibility is that the wrong MCU family was selected when installing CCS. Make sure that 'Sitara (AM2x)' is selected during installation.

In any case, I think it unlikely that you'll be able to use the reference design (TIDA_01606) software with TMDSCNCD263. It's a totally difference MCU family.

  • Michael,

Kier is incorrect in that TIDA 01606 can absolutely be used with TMDSCNCD263 - it is the evaluation platform for the AM263x microcontroller.

Kier is correct that the wrong MCU family may be selected when installing CCS. Has your customer gone through the FAQ that I sent in my previous reply? This step is included in the FAQ.

    Brennan

Apologies Brennan, I actually misread your post!

I'm intrigued. So the F2837xd control card is HSEC pin compatible with the TMDSCNCD263? If so, where is the source code for the latter please?

  • Hi,  I've not heard back from him yet.

    Michael.
