AM2434: EDS file MaxCIPConnections meaning

Part Number: AM2434

Tool/software:

Hello Archit Dev,

may I ask you what is the meaning of MaxCIPConnections parameter in the EDS file? Does this limit maximum amount of devices connected in the daisy chain? (nodes)

We were planning to daisy chain up to 100 devices. Is somewhere else in the EDS file a limitation of maximum amount of devices connected in the daisy chain?

Thanks for help ! Petr

  • Hi Petr,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I have assigned this query to the relevant expert. They will get back to you with a response.

  • Hi Petr,

the MaxCIPConnections is the number of maximum active CIP connection on the current node, it has nothing to do with other nodes.
as the name suggest, EDS (Electronic Data Sheet) is a descriptor of your device, it doesn't assume or knows about the other nodes.

Regarding limitation, you might want to consider the message delays introduced in a larger network. The other point you have to consider is the the maximum number of LLDP neighbor devices the stack can handle, in upcoming SDK it will be configurable from the Application layer. (That means, as long as you have enough RAM available, you can set the number of maximum LLDP neighbor devices the stack can handle).

    Best regards,
    Pourya
