Hello Team,

After the debug session, we could able to read the device ID and manufacture ID with flash configured as FLS_1S_1S_8S.

However we have observed behavior for erase is the its takes 30s to erase the memory. Flash configuration as below :

Flash sectors we have configured as : 2000.

Flash start address to erase : 0x100000

Flash end address to erase : 0x22FFFF.

DAC is disabled.

why does it takes 30s to erase the memory ?

Any thing to consider in the configuration of flash ?

Hi Vishwanatha,

Referring to the IS25LX256/128, there are different erase methods, namely, subsector erase, sector erase and chip erase. The time duration for these are mentioned in the table attached below.

Could check which kind of erase is being performed?

Is subsector erase being done?, then according to the data sheet, it would be expected to take this much duration of time.

Also could you please elaborate on what flash sector being configured as 2000 mean?

Hello Aswin,

Please find the configuration of flash is attached below :

0x2000 means total number of sectors .

However requested erase sectors are : 0x130

To reduce the time, if we configure as 32kb sub-sectors or 64k sectors:

is it possible to erase 4k sub-sector with above configurations ?

Hi Vishwanatha,

You can try to configure the size of 32KB as check the erase speed (which is currently 4KB). The subsector does not seem to support 64KB as it is not mentioned in the data sheet.

The erase time in this case would be 130ms for the prescribed size.

We will check this and update.

I have one more query, currently we are checking demos from the sdk and demos are working fine means they are passed however we can not see any content in the external flash memory at address starting from 0x60000000 .

Which are flash registers flags to be enabled to check/see flash content ?

Are you using uniflash? If so, can you tell me the version of the same?

Since you are using memory browser, can you enable DAC and check?

Another method would be to use the uniflash tool.
