Further to the related question and the document https://www.ti.com/lit/an/spradp0/spradp0.pdf where it says...

If I use sbl_ospi.release.tiimage from SDK 10.1.x or I rebuild our SBL with a copy of hsmRtImg.h from SDK 10.1.x, then I can use a QSPI 1S or OSPI 8S boot mode to load an application that can use the TRACE port. Is that correct please?

In your CMM script for AM263P4, it says:

&sbl=TRUE() ; When running in QSPI Bootmode

If you set this to false and therefore use DevBoot mode, there is no HSMRt loaded which means the TRACE port is locked. In other words, DevBoot mode cannot be used and sbl should never be set to false in this script. Is that correct?

The v10.01 SDK contains the updated hsmRtImg. This should ideally work. Are you facing any issues running with QSPI/OSPI bootmodes? As long as the flash supports the boot mode and the correct hsmRtImg is used (Which allows trace accesses), it should work.

We have not tested the scripts with Dev Bootmode. In case of DEV Boot mode, the trace port will be locked, you are right. We tested it with an TI-Internal bootmode in which SBL is bypassed and with QSPI/OSPI boot modes only (SBL Null + Loading the appimage via UART).

I just managed to get an output on the TRC_CLK pin. It is a sine wave rather than a square wave and is at 83.3MHz. Does that sound correct to you please?

Our HW expert might be able to help verify this, I haven't tried probing this TRC_CLK pin and unfortunately I do not have the setup for this right now. Brennan Hartigan, can you please help with the above question.

I think it's working now with null SBL from SDK 10.1, QSPI 1S mode and your script in the App Note.

I guess that shows the TRC_CLK is fundamentally working even if its shape is unusual.

Hi Kier,

For Dev Boot Mode as well, the device can be used for its trace support. The requirement is to load the HSM Run Time via Dev boot mode. Hi Aakash,

Thanks for that, I'll make a note of it. I can see why using the NULL SBL is preferential now since this will be executed by default at power on.

Hi Brennan Hartigan, I guess this is an observation problem. If I lower the frequency then I get a squarer wave. I suppose then that all the odd harmonics are filtered out and am left with the 83.3MHz fundamental when I look at it with the scope. Perhaps the bandwidth on the scope is not high enough but need to check when I'm back in the office.
