AM2632-Q1: AM2632CPDFHMZCZRQ1

Part Number: AM2632-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM2632

Tool/software:

Does the AM2632 have to mount Emmc? Can both the images stored as programs and those to be displayed for DLP2021 be stored in NOR FLASH? Is a capacity of 256Mbit sufficient? A method for providing reference computing space?

  • Can the AM2632 be used for the storage of programs, pictures and videos with only 256Mbit SPI FLASH? 2. Is there an octal requirement for the JEDEC XSPI protocol in SPI FLASH? 3. Does AM2632 without eMMC meet the development requirements of DLP applications? 4. Could you elaborate on the application and capacity selection requirements of SPI FLASH and eMMC in detail?

  • Hello kerwin ji,
Thanks for reaching out, let me get back to you with more details on the same.

  • Hello kerwin ji,
    Thank you for your patience,
To answer your questions in the same order,

    1) Theoretically it is possible to store the image/video data and the Source code in the same NOR Flash. However, the main idea behind using EMMC in the first place was higher memory capacity with lesser cost compared to the NOR flash. For instance, a two second video with around 50 frames would be more than 160 megabits / 20 MB (Video resolution 416x468 with color depth of RGB444). For the same reason, I believe a 256megabit of Flash would serve a constraint for the amount of video/image that you can display from the system. For reference the code binaries have a size of around 10 megabits / 1.3 MB as of now.

    2) I will get back to you regarding the Octal requirement spec.

    3) The current software implementation requires the image/video data to be stored in a different Memory (the EMMC).

    4) Could we please take this offline (Could you please share your E-mail ID)?  I can share you some docs and tools for you to assess how much SPI FLASH and eMMC you would require based on your use case.
Additionally in the reference schematic, we are using 128 megabits of QSPI NOR Flash and 8 GB of eMMC.

  • Hello kerwin ji,
I have mailed you the tools and docs for you to estimate the memory requirements for your use case.
We can continue over mail itself in case you have any doubt regarding the tools.

Hence, I am closing this ticket.
