EK-TM4C1294XL: Willing to integrate the TcpEcho example project from TI RTOS( NDK) wit another existing application project

Yes my TcpEcho code is building, compiling and working properly. However I am facing issues with integration of TcpEcho code with my existing independent project (which is also working properly without integration).

Could you please help me finding out a way through which I can directly use TCPEcho Project in my existing project without having the need to manually integrate them?

  How was your USB project created? Were you not using the .cfg to create your USB project? If your USB project has the .cfg then I will suggest you look at both the usb.cfg and the tcpecho.cfg and combine them. Perhaps it may be easier to start with the TcpEcho project as a baseline and then add the source files you have for the USB.

I went through the .cfg files of both projects and tried integrating them. I have made good progress on it. However in TcpEchoHooks.c there is function called netOpenHook, i used the same function in my independent code as well and declared it properly, but it is giving me an error saying "netOpenHook is undefined". I have added the ndk config to my .cfg. Along with it I have also mentioned the function declaration in stack hook functions. I am attaching the screenshots below for your reference.

Please help me solve this issue, looking forward to your response.

 Your error is generated during linking. 

In the below post, Todd mentions that the TcpEcho project which is configured using XCCONF will have the necessary libraries automatically picked up. You can look in the generated linker.cmd file in debug/configPkg. You can see the NDK libraries that you'll need to add.

In the below post, the OP shows how he specifies the NDK libraries in the linker script and it seems to resolve the issue.

I have the ndk libraries added. In the TCP Project when i open the declaration of on netOpenHook, the tcpecho tcpecho_pem4f.c file opens up but in my independent project upon clicking on netOpenHook the pem4f.c of my independent project doesn't open. how can i get this linked?

I don't know for you sure how this is done in CCS. Can you right click on netOpenHook, see below. Do you see the reference for netOpenHook?

 Did the project compile successfully?

 Can you put a breakpoint in the netOpenHook function? Does it work that shows a breakpoint has been placed?

 If you can see the breakpoint inserted by the debugger, can you run the code and will the processor halt at the breakpoint?

No, the project did not build and I am getting the same error, netOpenHook is undefined, first referenced in _pem4f.oem4f file.

Hi Siddhi,

  I had the impression that you at least got it compile after adding the NDK libraries in the linker command file. Now I'm confused. If you cannot build the project, how can you even load the firmware into flash? 

  In any case, I will suggest you start with a clean TcpEcho project since it is proven to work out of box. You can then add your USB related source code. Have you tried that?

   I also wanted to give you a heads-up that I will be out of office the entire next week. Please expect delay in my response.

  Glad your problem is resolved. Do you mind to tell me how did you resolve it? Was it the NDK library linking issue or you started with the TcpEcho as a starting point and integrate your USB capabilities?

No, I did not start with the TcpEcho example as the base.

I continued working on my independent project and manually added the necessary files from the TcpEcho example namely, tcpEcho.c, tcpEchoHooks.c, EK_TM4C1294XL.c, EK_TM4C1294XL.h, and Board.h. After that, I configured the NDK through the .cfg file.

However, I encountered an issue where the netOpenHook function from the NDK (tcpEchoHooks.c) was not getting linked or referenced properly. To resolve this, I had to move the mentioned files outside of the inc and src folders. Since netOpenHook is expected to be defined globally, placing these files inside inc or src prevented the NDK from linking them correctly.
