AM2431: AM2431 Minimum Circuitry

Hello,

Is there any schematic reference design with the minimum circuitry of the AM2431 needed for it to work properly. It's for an application where I will only use the 2 Ethernet ports and any other GPIO or serial interface.

I am already studying the reference designs that TI provides, but I want to know which parts of them won't be needed for my design since some of them may be used only for that specific application.

The MCU should be programmed via JTAG interface and shoulnd't need external memory.

Hello, and thanks for replying,

The design is intended to codify the information that comes from an ethernet port and bring the codified information to an external device through the other port. That's basically all that the MCU must do.

From the datasheet and the reference designs I think that the external circuitry needed is basically:

- QSPI Flash (since I am going to use ALX package)
- RST interface
- External Ethernet PHY
- Boot Mode selection for QSPI Flash
- 3.3V and 1.8V Power
- JTAG for programming and debugging
- 25MHz Crystal

I would like to know if that's all I need, or if there's something wrong with it, or something missing.

Thank you.

You should be able to use DP83822 or similar 10/100 EPHY operating on a single supply.

There is a requirement for a 9.5ms delay for clock to stabilize. A reset generator or a watch dog time type of device may be required.

You could choose a crystal based or oscillator as clock source.

There may be some discrete logic required for memory reset or for generating cold reset input from a slow rise time open drain output type PG output.
