How to activate USB port(TM4C123G) in Win PC

Hi,

   Try load a known working example like blinky and see if it works. If it did not work, then you might have locked your JTAG. Use the LM Flash Programmer "Debug Port Unlock Utility", if that is the case.

I use XDS100v2 to link CCS5.4.0 when debug program, it works properly,

Your means the MCU build in flash memory's program maybe changed. What should I do?

Hi,

   You can download LM Flash Programmer at the TI website. The Debug Port Unlock Utility is part of the LM Flash Programmer. You, can find it at the "Other Utilities" tab.

   What I mean is first check if your launchpad JTAG is not locked by loading a blinky example program. If you are able to load this program either through CCS, Uniflash, or LM Flash Programmer and runs okay, then your JTAG is not locked.

   If the JTAG is locked, then you need to use the LM Flash Programmer Debug Port Unlock Utility. See, link at my signature "JTAG Communication Failures".

Running LM Flash Programmer, it can't find my own board(not Development Board or LaunchPad Board), because winPC was not find my board that as I first said. LM Flash Programmer only can find that is winPC can find.

And, LM Flash Programmer also can not use JTAG, when using "manual configuration"

My problem is not about JTAG lock or unlock

I went to solve my problem is "how to let winPC can fin my own board's USB port" that is come from MCU TM4C123GH6PZ's USB0

Hi,

   What I am also suggesting is to return your Tiva Launchpad to its initial state before you got this problem. Meaning Flash is completely erased.

   We will do step by step to restore your Tiva Launchpad to initial state. Do first the instructions below.

   Post a picture here of your Tiva Launchpad connected to your PC. Also post a picture of your Device Manager showing your connections to Tiva Launchpad.

Hi Lung,

    I thought you were using a Tiva Launchpad. As you are using a custom Tiva Board, much better to wait advice from a TI Engineer. 

   This post below has a similar failure to your custom board. The poster "Stephano" was able to solve the problem by doing a "Erase Entire Flash" using LM Flash Programmer.

   Device Manager shows "Tivaware Device Firmware Upgrade" when Launchpad is connected.

Hi Markel,

I've read through the post as your suggestion, I guess Device Manager shows  "Tivaware Device Firmware Upgrade" in new MCU chip is normal, because it hes not program, but my board is direct no function in the USB port(disabled), Device Manager can not see it, so can not do anything in LM Flash Programmer.

Hello Lung Tat Ng,

You would need to use UNIFLASH to erase using XDS debugger. It works almost identical to LMFlashProgrammer except that it supports XDS debuggers as well. The LMFlashProgrammer is meant for the Stellaris ICDI.

Flash Utilities=> Upload Flash Contents to a .bin file

I try to upload something, but it said "unable to find a target", What means that "target" in here,

and how I know the XDS100v2 is connected properly?

Second, after install UNIFLASH what I need to do?

As Amit replied earlier, the LM Flash Programmer is for Stellaris ICDI and there is no option for XDS100. You can use LM Flash Programmer for Tiva Kits which has Stellaris ICDI.

I believe there is Guide on how to use Uniflash, so search about that at TI website, or possibly it will be at the Uniflash folder after you have installed Uniflash.

For erasing/programming your board, you do not need to connect your USB port - only the JTAG should be connected at that stage. Take care to upgrade/update your UNIFLASH, since only in the last version you will find out the Debug Port Utility. Take care also what you download, since there are two UNIFLASH versions, one of them dedicated to wireless, which is not your case.

Second, when you connect your USB cable, you need to install some Windows drivers - use the known procedure to install the needed drivers from a precise location in your computer, to be found in Tiva/windows_drivers. Install what correspond to your application.

Hi,

   Try install again with Anti-Virus off. Other causes could be that you are not Installing as Admin, and also that your user name account is not recognized by installer because it is just a few special characters like "," or ".".

   Also try installing using the Offline installer from the link below.

Hello Lung Tat Ng,

Can you please send a snapshot of the PC device manager both before and after Flash Erase. If this the DFU you are mentioning then, yes after programming the flash the DFU will not be seen unless the ROM Boot Loader is invoked (either by erasing flash or by jumping to ROM Boot Loader using BOOTCFG+Reset)

Hi Amit,

My project board can run test program properly after leave CCS, but PC device manager no show my board USB device.

After erase, the USB device is appeared immediately in PC device manage table

This is problem that when build in program to my board, but PC can't find it, so debugging with PC cannot continue.

As you said, I will try modify Boot Loader, maybe it is a solution.

By the way, may I know, how to convert .out format to ,bin format?

My original meaning was let USB as a Bulk Device, debug program was via JTAG, not USB port.

The test program "usb_dev_bulk" can run on my project board after modify, if link to PC success.

So the problem is how to let PC can see the usb port.

Tiva C series also has windows_drivers and has already been installed.
When my project board is plugged into the USB port, the PC device manager does not even detect the device. So i think the problem is not that the windows driver is not installed.

I remember when my project board was plugged into the USB port for the first time, the windows device manager showed "Stellaris Device Firmware Upgrade" before building in my test program in my board in first time. It change to "Generic Bulk Device" later because it was running the test program, and can communicate between PC and my project board. The "Generic Bulk Device" information came from usb_bulk_structs.c

When I turned on my project board the next time, the USB port information did not appear in PC windows device manager anymore.
