TMS570LC4357: Motorware/InstaSpin FOC support for safety MCUs?

Part Number: TMS570LC4357
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS1224

I'm using the TMS570LC4357 for an automotive application.

I'm looking into using the same processor to control an electric motor, not decided on the motor technology as yet so would  want to be able to test out a couple of technologies if possible.
I was lead to believe that there was a motor drive kit available that used the TMS570, but it looks as that has been discontinued.

I'm looking for some help with how I can use the TMS570 to do this project, can anyone point me to a kit or a number of kits that I can put together to allow me to develop a motor controller without having to change MCU?

  • Keith,

You are right - there was a kit for demonstrating TMS570 for motor control. That kit was discontinued and has now been replaced with a combination of launchpad + boosterpack. You can get the TMS570LC4357 launchpad and combine it a BLDC driver EVM like the DRV3205 EVM: www.ti.com/.../drv3205evm, or the DRV3245 EVM: www.ti.com/.../boostxl-drv3245aq1

The DRV EVMs come with an example software based on the TMS570LS1224 launchpad, which will have to be ported over to the TMS570LC43x part. This should be fairly straightforward as the parts are compatible in terms of the peripherals available.
