TM4C1294KCPDT: EPI uDMA channels

Part Number: TM4C1294KCPDT

Hi,

looking at the TM4C1294KCPDT datasheet table 9-1, it looks like there are two sets of channels for the EPI0 module:

can you explain their difference? in what use case will I use either?

I should point out I tried a DMA TX transfer to the EPI bus (XFIFO mode), and both of these worked. However I always to prefer to understand what I'm doing rather than guess...

thanks!

Guy.

  • There is no significant difference. Since the channels 20 and 21 are shared with other peripherals, channels 30 and 31 were added in case there was a conflict with two peripherals on the same channel both needing DMA. Having the peripheral on two different channels increases the probability that conflicting requirements would be resolved. Many other peripherals also have duplicate uDMA channels assigned to them.
  • OK, and the fact that one says "EPI0TX Software" while the other just says "EPI0TX" is meaningless?
