Hi,
I have a problem with serial communication. I'm using IDE Energia to print a simple word ("hello") on the serial monitor but nothing appear (no error in the sketch). Can you help me?
PS: right board and port are selected and same baud rate for serial monitor and board.

Hello Gino,
Normally we ask the customers to direct their Energia related questions to Energia support forum at forum.43oh.com/.../ as we are not experienced with the Energia. Refer to the item 5 in the FAQ sticky note about our support model for Energia related questions. e2e.ti.com/.../695568

However, in your case, i will suggest you first check if you have selected the correct COM port. Go to your Windows device manager and look under the Ports (COM & LPT). You should find the Stellaris Virtual Serial Port (COMx). Make you you have the correct COM port selected in your serial monitor. If you have already done so properly and still can't output to the serial monitor then I will suggest you use scope to see if the serial data is being transmitted out of the UART module. I'm assuming the Energia example you are using uses the UART0 in the MCU. Probe the PA1 pin which is the UART0 TX pin. Do you see any signals on this pin?

I will suggest you first try the TivaWare hello example project. This is a CCS project. You will need to download the CCS IDE. You can find it in <TivaWare_Installation>/examples/boards/EK-TM4C1294Xl/hello. This example simply output the "Hello world!" message onto the terminal window. If you can get this to work then the UART0 is working. You can see the PA1 sending out the message. If you are trying to learn how the MCU works I think the TivaWare examples are great for learning the MCU. If your only choice is Energia then as I suggested you will need to contact Energia forum. Most likely some configuration is incorrect.

Uart 0..i think! i'm a begginer and following tutorials i connected the micro usb (debug) on my board to USB on my pc.
This configuration worked but suddenly it doesn't work anymore

I tried and If i am doing right it work. "Hello, world!" is printed on terminal in ccs

Hi Gino,
Did you mean that you had already tried TivaWare hello example in CCS and it printed out the message to the terminal. If this is the case, then the board/MCU is good. It is some configuration on the Energia side that needs attention. Please as suggested earlier contact Energia forum at forum.43oh.com/.../ if your only choice for development is Energia. However, I hope this is not the case for you. As you have successfully use the TivaWare, I will suggest you consider continuing to use CCS and TivaWare for learning MCU or development. I will close the thread for now. If you have MCU related questions you can open a new thread.
