TM4C1294NCPDT: ARM TRACE 20 PIN DEBUG CKT FOR TIVA TM4C129

Part Number: TM4C1294NCPDT

Hi,

We are building a hardware with TIVA TM4C129NCPDT as the chip. We have to implement 20 pin TRACE debug for ARM. I have made the circuit as shown (attached). I have connected the respective trace pins properly to the TIVA controller. I have following doubts:

1. Which pin of TIVA should i connect the GNDDetect pin of the connector?

2. Do i need series termination for TRACE pins?

3. Please let me know reference schematic for 20 pin ARM TRACE DEBUG ckt for TIVA TM4C129NCPDT controller.

Thanks

  • Hello Nagendra,

We don't have a reference schematic but general JTAG connections are discussed in this app note: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/spma075/spma075.pdf It looks like you have the right resistors in place already.

For adding Trace, the TM4C1294NCPDT has the following pins available for Trace functionality:

    • PF0 - Trace data 2.
    • PF1 - Trace data 1.
    • PF2 - Trace data 0.
    • PF3 - Trace clock.
    • PF4 - Trace data 3.

I am not aware of any need for series termination for the pins, so you should just be able to make those connections in addition to the JTAG connections.

I have not seen any references for the GNDDetect connection for Trace, but for the 10 pin ARM connector we connected GNDDetect to TM4C GND and I would recommend the same here.
