TMS570LS1224: Is the internal Flash (including the EEPROM Emulation) NOR based or NAND based?

Hello E2E TI Community,

Relating to the following forum question:

I have the following questions:

1) Is the internal Flash in the TMS570LS12x Family NOR or NAND based?

2) Is the Emulated EEPROM NOR or NAND based?

3) Where could I find additional information in form of documentation regarding the type of Flash memory in this MCU?

I tried searching in the documentation of this MCU, but I didn't manage to find any information!

Hi Mihail,

It is NOR type of non-volatile memory. You have to use the TI Flash API library to erase and program the on-chip flash. It doesn't support any sort of industry standard interface.

Just to clear it up, what you said--that the non-volatile memory is NOR-based--also applies to the EEPROM Emulation, correct?

Hi Mihail,

I said it is NOR type non-volatile memory: cells are connected in parallel to the bit lines.which allows the cells to be read and programmed individually.

NAND-type flash is with CMOS NAND-gate connected in series.

Data flash (EEPROM, Bank 7) and program flash (Bank 0 and Bank 1) use the same structure.
