TIDM-02008: Control scheme & modulation technique for inverter mode

Good afternoon 

I'd like to rise up the question related with the algorithm used to drive switches on board TIDM-02008 when the device operates as inverter (3-leg interleaved single phase inverter).

I'm mostly interested how looks the modulation technique used in the TIDM-02008 as this is the thing which determines sequence for turning on the switches during one period. I need that information to write sub-intervals when which switches are turned on etc.

After checking your documentation I concluded that inverter operates in uni-polar modified mode (totem-pole style, one leg is slow, other are fast) and for single phase uses SPWM modulation to create control signal for switches. I hope so that's right understanding.

I've got the problem with understanding what kind of a modulation technique is used when inverter operates with more legs and interleaves them. I know that the legs are shifted by 120 deg (due to fact of 3 legs, 360 deg / 3 = 120 deg) but I don't know how is produced the control signal for switches (the sequence of switching which is determined by modulation technique). I'm wondering if it is just SP-SPWM (also known as SP-PWM, Shifted Phase - Sin-PWM) or CB-PWM, LS-PWM, PD-PWM or other technique.

Could you help me with that trouble as it's essential for understanding operation of your device.

  • Hi Bartek,

    The modulation scheme and Low/High frequency switching are the same as PFC control. The only different thing is the current reference polarity.
