Hello,
I'm using LAUNCHXL-F28379D and would like to use CLB.
1. What is the CLB highest clock frequency possible?
2. what is the CLB clock which presented in page 65 of this manual (http://file2.dzsc.com/product/20/08/04/152888_103901697.pdf)
3. what configuration is needed in order to get the highest frequency?
4. If I replace external oscillator , connected to VSSOSC pin with higher frequency oscillator, will it increase CLB clock respectively ? what is the highest possible ?
Thanks,
Ido
Hi Ido,
Thank you for your interest in C2000 and the CLB. To answer your questions:
1. The CLB on TMS320F28379D runs at a clock frequency of 100 MHz.
2. I am unable to view the file link you sent, can you provide me the URL from the TI website for the manual you are referring to?
3. What do you mean by configuration? The highest frequency (100 MHz) is the normal operating frequency of the CLB, and on F28379D, the CLB is clocked to the EPWM with a divider.
4. What frequency oscillator are you interested in? The on-board oscillator should be sufficient to run the CLB at its max frequency. Trying to run the CLB at a higher frequency (overclocking it) will result in performance that has not been tested and is not guaranteed to function.
It sounds like you are interested in running the CLB at a higher clock frequency. On our other device, the TMS320F2838x family, it has a type 3 CLB which can operate in what's known as PIPELINE mode. This mode allows for the CLB to run at 150 MHz. That device only has a controlCARD version if you are interested in testing it out. See the following document for more on the differences between the CLBs in the two devices (https://www.ti.com/lit/spru566#page=40).
Please let me know if you have any other queries.
Regards,
Peter
